Can u explain what causes cramping during implantaion?

Ok- so I know this sounds really basic, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that I don't REALLY understand the ins and outs of why a women cramps during implantation ....can anyone give me an answer that is somewhat scientific/ physiological so that I can better explain this to people when they ask me. THANK YOU!!!

mostly because the uterus is growing. Also the embryo is connecting to blood vessels in order to receive nutrients. These vessels are exposed and cause the body to respond, thus the uterus to contract in order to protect these blood vessels. It is much like when you are having your period and the endometrial lining is being shed.

I read somewhere that the cramping was partially due to your uterus adjusting to the new levels of hormones being in your body...don't know how true that is, but it kinda makes sense as a partial explanation I guess!

The other part is that the embryo is burrowing into the lining and dissolving vessels to begin forming the connections for the placenta, that's bound to cause some dissruption!
