View Full Version : Looking for the wrong type of babysitter?

I've been thinking about how I am going to organise my 3 school aged children for the few hours after school while I'm away on births. I'm grateful that my hubby is flexible enough to get the kids to school.

I've been asking around my small town to see if anyone knows any teenagers interested in some extra money on a casual basis. I thought it would be easy to find someone. Boy was I wrong. It seems that they are either not interested (ie. already received lots of pocket money), already working, too busy with school or are kept a closely guarded secret. :rofl

I was talking to a friend the other day and she said what about the seniors out there? They may have more flexibility to be able to babysit. We had been talking of how distanced families are these days and yes, young families do it tough with no support. But also, grandparents are missing out too.

I'm not for one minute suggesting that my cherubs (is there a "cough ... splutter" smiley?) are replacements for the real thing.

Then I started wondering how to get all these stressed mums I know together with the seniors.

I don't know, maybe I think too much. :blush

Just my musings for today.

Cheers,
AngelsMum.

That is a great idea. Maybe you could contact your local seniors center to locate a 'grandparent' to watch the 'cherubs.':whistle
