So I've been looking everywhere for storage jars. I haven't been able to find *any* suitably-sized, empty, coloured glass (my preference) jars. I've looked in big-box housewares stores, hardware stores, kitchen supply stores, dollar stores, etc. For the time being I'm using jars I found at Dollarama (doesn't that sound classy?) for - you got it - a dollar. They're just like the ones in this story (half way down, beside the PBI belly pic): http://www.inhabitots.com/2009/08/28/swallow-your-babys-placenta-one-pill-at-a-time/

So, I love the jars with the wire bale, and the price is good enough for me, but I'd love it more if it were brown glass, you know? And I've read others in this forum suggesting coloured containers to avoid degradation due to exposure to light. But does anyone know if this is really an issue?

One of the places I looked for jars was in Chinatown. I looked in housewares stores but I also looked in several TCM pharmacies. I found their ready-made capsules being sold in plain white plastic jars like the ones tylenol comes in at mainstream drug stores. More to the point, I found their ingredients for custom-made remedies sitting in large, clear glass jars on open shelves. They don't seem to be worried about light degradation one tiny bit. (I have no idea what was in 75% of those jars - and I think I'm fine with that!:lol)

So, does anyone know whether there's really any concern about light exposure, especially since we're dealing with something that's designed to be used up in a matter of weeks?

Well, really, if you're keeping it in the fridge or freezer anyway, it's not going to get a lot of light regardless. I still have mine from six months ago, and I figure it's fine. :) That is my completely IN-expert opinion.

what about colored plastic jars? I found a good place for those, but have no idea what size (in oz) would be best.

I haven't found those, either. The jars I have are about 8oz I think. They hold about 110 capsules.

Cool! Those amber ones would do nicely. I hadn't thought of ordering this kind of thing online because of the weight (shipping) but I'll dig around and see if I can find a Canadian company that does this kind of stuff. (Sometimes being small is a drag. :()

I am loving this site! :banana I've decided to get both 8oz and 4 oz so that I could put the majority of the capsules in the 8oz andthe rest in the 4oz :D I just wish the lids weren't so expensive :( I'm also going to get the press on seals. I wanted the shrink wrap but I don't want to apply any heat to the capsules. I know I don't HAVE to have either, but I feel like it adds a bit of professionalism to the whole end result and in a city this mainstream...that's important!

Yeah, the buying lids separately thing is a drag.

Just as a datapoint, I'm not sure about the seals, but as a client I would not want my jar shrinkwrapped. It would feel too much like something you bought at the pharmacy, not my own private, custom-made and fresh product, you know?

Yeah, I can see what you mean. I dunno...I ordered them and I don't have a problem asking my client later if they were bothersome (some people hate taking them off....I guess I kinda do :lol)

I got all that I mentioned earlier for $22 and then S/H was $11. Not too bad...I can do at least 10 placentas with that
