Has anyone gone through this program? what did you think? amymaew 05-18-2007, 02:41 PM I'm going through it right now. I just have to do my two births and shadow a childbirth class. I love it. My trainer is easily accessible and very helpful, and I feel that the course is very in depth. Any specific questions feel free to ask :) AMotz 05-18-2007, 02:47 PM I am using them also. I only have one more birth to attend and then I'm done. I think it is very in depth. I would like to attend a workshop though, but I am going to do that through CAPPA sometime soon, so I will have both certifications. I chose CBI because it was homestudy and I have a small daughter at home who still nurses. It has been great. SabbathD 05-18-2007, 03:23 PM doing it now! LOVE it! Lyndsey 05-18-2007, 03:37 PM Also currently enrolled. I've done everything except attend two births. I've got one client and trying to get the other now. I chose CBI because I have young kids, one which is still nursing and the homestudy fit best with my schedule. I've loved it! Itrustbirth 05-18-2007, 03:51 PM I'm going through CBI right now. I'm doing the Dual Doula/Childbirth Educator training. I have my last CBE class to observe tonight and I've got a couple clients due soon for the births requirement. I started in Setember 2006 and I expect to be done with the certifications by September 2007. I've felt very supported by the trainers at CBI and I have loved the course materials. I loved that I could do it at home and at my pace since I had a nursing infant when I started. I do think I would benefit from an actual workshop so I might just go to a DONA workshop since they seem to have a lot of those locally. Kacy 05-18-2007, 04:19 PM I'm a CBI student as well. :) I think it's a really great program, and I've really enjoyed it. I like the more relaxed, laid-back feel. All I have to do is observe the childbirth class (which I'm doing on Monday) and then attend my two births. :) SabbathD 05-18-2007, 04:55 PM side question - how long has it taken all of my fellow CBI students to get where they are? I am zooming through this bookwork.... Kacy 05-18-2007, 05:05 PM side question - how long has it taken all of my fellow CBI students to get where they are? I am zooming through this bookwork.... About 2 months. ;) I agree, it's been a pretty fast study for me! joandchris18 05-18-2007, 07:01 PM I certified thru CBI and liked it. In total, it took me 6 months to complete. You really learn the most attending your births. Thats when you find out what works well for you and what doesn't. Acacia 05-18-2007, 07:31 PM I certified thru CBI and liked it. I could have posted the same exact response! joandchris18 05-18-2007, 07:36 PM Great minds think alike, Julie!!! Lyndsey 05-19-2007, 07:32 AM side question - how long has it taken all of my fellow CBI students to get where they are? I am zooming through this bookwork.... I ordered the certification materials on January 29 and zoomed through the reading material in about 2 months. At this point I've done everything except attend births, which is taking awhile to find. AMotz 05-19-2007, 11:52 AM I started in January 07, only need 1 more birth. aurorabirth 05-19-2007, 05:15 PM Add me to the list. I must be honest, I was trying to supress the need to become a midwife in me so I enrolled and all it did was make it worse! LOL! I love the bookwork, I am learning a lot and it is easy to understand. I haven't dedicated a lot of time to it until lately, so it is taking me a bit, but now that I am at it, it is going quickly. :) jenstano 07-02-2007, 10:01 PM I enrolled with CBI to do the dual Doula and CBE study. It has been fantastic, especially since I have a 4 month old bub still b/f. I chose CBI as my doula recommended them; she studied with another to become a doula and has decided to go with CBI to become a CBE also. The payment plan is another great thing about CBI as we have recently dropped to one income!! The website is very user friendly and I have found my trainer to be very helpful and supportive. All the best. :whistle |
