Hi everybody. :newbie My name is Heather. I'm been married to my best friend Mike for 6 years and we have an 18 month old daughter, Charlotte. We took Bradley classes when I was pregnant with her and had a mostly positive natural birth in a hospital. Ever since my daughter was born, I've wanted to be a doula so I could help other women have positive births. It seems like most people only have horror stories to share with pregnant women. I've been taking doula classes at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland, OR and am just about finished with my classes. I have yet to find a client, but am working on marketing myself. I'm not very good at marketing so this is a new experience for me. I was a manager for 11 years at Burger King and recently left there so now I'm a SAHM. I've been a member at LLL since my dd was born and I'm going to start volunteering at the local Nursing Mothers' Counsel this spring.

I'm Jill, I live near Sacramento in Ca and am a SAHM of 5. I've been doing Doula work for 6 years, but mainly for freinds and family. Now that the twins are in first grade I am working on marketing myself and getting some paying clients. :rolleyes

I'm working on certifications for birth and post partum doula through DONA. I also will be applying for the CLE program through Cappa in the next week or so. I've also been kicking around the idea of getting my CBE through ICEA. I figure if I do all the certifications concurrently it just might work. Of course, money is always an issue :scared The plan is to apply to midwifery school in Oct or Nov of this year. That way I can do doula work while I'm working on the academic portion of midwifery school.

We are so glad you joined us!! My name is Candice, I am an married SAHM to 3 kids ages 7,5 and 6 months. I am currently a DONA trained doula, ready to start births anytime soon! I plan on doing some volenteering myself to get off the ground, then later hope to become a CLE and PP doula then maybe opening my own business but I would be glad to take a few paying clients here and there also. :)
