Need help with finding a great training program

What are the basic steps to becoming a doula? I know you have to go through a training program. What are the best programs? I was interested in ALACE because according to them, they are the only program to teach doulaing based on the midwifery model of care and since I want to be a midwife, I thought it'd be a good fit. Or would it be better for me to be trained in both the medical and midwifery model of care? Please list great training programs, preferably those that are not home based, as I am very new to this. Thanks.

I didn't train with ALACE so I don't know all of the details but when they say they are the only ones to train based on the midwifery model of care they are not saying the other orgs train based on the medical model. If they are saying that there would be a lot of other programs that might be pretty upset with that Basically, from all I've heard and read they are a good org to go through if you are becoming a doula as a stepping stone to midwifery because they go into some things beyond what other orgs might consider outside of the doulas scope of practice. So, as I understand it, it's more about the scope of practice vs the model of care. I hope that helps.

I'm planning on becoming a cbe and then doula through ALACE. I spoke with someone from ALACE on Tuesday and was encouraged to begin reading some of the required books so that I can have more of a frame of reference when I do the training and be that much further with certifying.
There is a section under aspiring doulas that has a sticky thread that lists different organizations.
