My first client, too!
Well I hope she'll be - her due date is the day I finish my birth doula (DONA) workshop! She understands that I won't be able to be there if she goes into labor before then - but she has great support from her husband and 2 sisters who both had homebirths (she chose a hospital) plus her mother. It's her first baby so we're both crossing our fingers that she'll go a few days over.
I spoke at the bradley class she's attending - they were covering breastfeeding - and she contacted me after the class.
But I'm still excited at the possibility even if it doesn't work out with timing! And she booked me for a private breastfeeding class!
It was a good day today!

duh - she's due March 1st! So it's coming soon!
And I'm attending this series of bradley classes to fulfill my CBE for DONA so I'll get to spend a lot of time with her each week and get to know what she wants and how she feels about certain things as well.

Have fun at your DONA workshop!! Have you thought about going to her birth anyway...whether it counted or not? It would be good experience.

That's a good idea - as long as it works out time wise I might offer to do that!

COngratulations on your first upcoming birth!
I agree with Cindy: each birth is a learning experience - even though it may not count toward your certification it will help to make you a better doula!

well I asked her and she said she wanted me there no matter what - so as long as it doesn't coincide with my dona workshop i'll be at it

Congrats! Sounds like the perfect first client... I also attend Bradley classes with clients when I can, and it does help you get into their head a little before the big day... so cool that you'll be there even if it doesn't count for your cert... so many new clients come from referals from happy mamas!
