I am at lost with creativity, I need to pick your brains!
In five days, I am doing a birth expo. I have no idea what to put out on our table. Please, give me some ideas. All I have right now is; My brochure, birth ball position handouts, some free muffins, and a raffle for free designer sunglasses.
I need more ideas.
THANKS!

I'm glad you posted this. I'm looking into doing a woman's health expo and can use some ideas too. Our area isn't very doula knowledgable so I think I'll make a big board about what a doula is. I think it's nice to have something that is tall to stand out above all the other tables. kwim??

I might opt out of the poster board, cuz the last expo here I went to (as an observer) everyone had already done that. But it seems for you, that is a great idea. I am still thinking about it though.

Some beautiful birth art instead of a poster might draw some folks your way. Some booths I've seen drape fabric around like a tent and place seating inside- it makes a welcoming area of rest that feels separate from the expo and draws in expectant moms. It gives them time to look at your info and get to know you better personally.

Bring your doula bag and do demonstrations with your "tools" -- rice socks, tennis balls, massagers, rebozos, combs, etc. People like interactive stuff and it gives them an idea of just how active a doula really is during her client's labor and delivery!

Got some more ideas -- bring your birth ball and demonstrate positions, or have it available for pregnant moms to sit on white they chat with you. Maybe have packets of Emergen-C for people to try out. have soothing music playing the background, or have a short doula or birth-type video playing in a loop on a laptop.

At our table this past Spring, we had
1) brochures
2) A "What's in a Doula's Bag?" display (but be aware of what you put out-- a couple of massagers got snagged by some kids); also an example of a fake labor timeline, like we would do for a real client
3) A free breastpump giveaway and a jar with a form to fill out for it
4) cards and magnets with our company logo
5) birth balls (mostly kids just jumped on them)
6) A cervical dilation display (little plastic cards, each one showing 1-10 cms)
7) Some baskets with candy for the kids
8) Free samples of baby products
9) Some Organic Tea for Pregnant Moms
In terms of staging, we made the table multi-leveled with boxes of various sizes, and covered them with baby blankets, and then put the items on the boxes and on the tables for visual interest. Then we had a large display of the company logo and a baby-centric photo hanging behind us on the back of the booth, in lieu of a poster board (which can look kind of cheesy, depending on how its done).
It turned out looking very professional, and we got a lot of comments on it. The giveaways were really what drew people in-- I think people mostly go to these things for the schwag But once we were there, we got a lot of great conversations started, and a couple of new clients!

I am Asquared's doula partner... Here is the requested photo of that booth. It looks a little cluttered in this shot, but it didn't feel that way on the day. I think the birth balls are behind the table in this shot.
By the way, I love the idea of creating a little seating area! Maybe we'll give that a try next year.

Okay, so what I am doing is:
1. I do have the poster board
2. On the poster board if info about my Doula Practice and Birth ball positions
3. Raffle on the donated gift certificate
4. My brochures
5. My business cards
6. My doula bag
7. Presentation on 25 Good Reasons to Use a Birth Ball
Right now, I am just gonna keep is simple since this is my first expo. Then after I will take stuff and add stuff. Thanks ladies!
