Are they worth it?

There is a fall fair here in my town in September. I'm thinking about signing up for it to spread the word about birth doulas for my area since most of the inquiries I've been getting are an hour away from me. It is not pregnancy related fair, just a general fall festival thing and is $50. I already have a tent/tables/tablecloth from when I used to show my jewelry at fairs. I think most of the vendors would be selling a product at the fair (you know jewelry and other crafts, Mary Kay, Pampered chef, etc) I'd just be there to hand out brochures and talk about birth and doulas.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Why not bring a few things to sell too? Birth balls, massagers, books....

Chiming in a little late here........

Would you incur many travel expenses?
How about childcare expenses?
Is it one day or several?
What are the show promoters limitations as to what you display?

If you feel comfortable with it, then go for it! I think it's a great way to get the word out.
A LLL Group in my area sets up at a farmer's market and pays $15 for their table. They don't sell anything but they have a rocking chair for mamma's to sit and nurse, plenty of handouts and it is staffed by accredited LLL Leaders so questions are welcome. I think they have some snacks too.

Good luck!!!!

They are worth the professional appearance and meeting new people. But its often a slow trickle. I have never had any good come out of people I met at the fair. But people do remeber meeting you, and may refer you.
