Womens Show

I decided to participate in the womens show this weekend, instead of the Welcome Wagon Baby Shower.
I paid $400.00 (shhh, don't tell my husband) to participate...so I want to make sure I am getting something for my money.

I need some ideas for an appealing booth. Most of you know I am pretty mainstream, our community is pretty mainstream, and there is oil money. Well..there was oil money. But that means that people have lots of flashy toys etc....its not a holistic, earthy birthy, or green community.

It is also a Womens Show, not a baby fair.
Our business provides:
doulas
prenatal classes
Bum Genius and Bummis cloth diapers
manicures
pedicures,
relaxation massage

So.. what would look appealing and make YOU want to stop and look at our booth?

Massages? Maybe more focus on the spa like features ... draw all kinds of people in, not just the preggies.

As someone who's been a vendor at many a women's show (not as a doula but for another business I used to have), I suggest:

- Get a piece of carpet for your booth - you can usually get this for under $100 and it just makes your booth look a million times more appealing.
- If you can bring an armchair or two, this also makes it more appealing and will draw women (especially pregnant women!) in. Put one near the front "entrance" and one further back (if there's room for two). If there's only room for one, put it near the front - sometimes people are afraid to come all the way in right away :o)

You could also have quick massages or mani/pedis or something going on - those always attract people. I've seen people who do massages create a "wait list" - they collect the name and email address for the waitlist, and then even if they don't come back, they've collected contact info.

Good luck!! And let us know how it goes - we have a great Women's Show in town, but I was hesitant to try it because I wanted to make sure it was worth it first! :o)

I would soooo be drawn into a booth that looks comfortable, relaxing and has a nice sweet lady doing mini-hand massages!! Can I stay all day?
And while I'm relaxing you can slip me a bag full of all your info of the services you provide, especially the doula/birth area since I may have preggo friends or someone I can pass the info along to.
Hope it goes great! Be sure to put out a tip jar if you're doing some mini-massages or mani/pedis. People will want to tip you. Let us know how it turns out, take pics!!
