Aquired a table at a Healthy Woman Event...What to bring?

I bought a table for a Healthy Women event in my home town. I'm the only doula here and most people probably have no idea what one is. I plan to do a folding board display (or two) and have informational handouts and brochures. April is Cesarean Awareness Month and I'm starting an ICAN chapter in my area so I plan to have information on that.

What else should I bring? I know the CIMS and Lamaze handouts. Is there anything else I can use to promote "Normal Birth". Would it be OK to make a Book List or have books other than WTEWYE on display? I've never done any promotion for just my doula business so I want to have as much information as possible to give to the public.

TIA!

Brandi

I would have different books of interest on the table, your business cards or brochures......

Sometimes, it is helpful to have people "sign up" for a doula information night...... it gives you a chance to explain more about what you do....... and makes people linger at your table a little longer.

Sometimes having a dish of candies does the same thing

First thoughts:
1) I like the sign up for a meet the doula night (or day, or coffee)
2) there are lots of information sheets that you can print out for free, print them out in different colors (What is a doula? VBAC information, Breast Feeding information,) Go to DONA, ICANN, and Kellymom. There are lots of stuff that you can hand out for free.
3) Your postcards
4) Vista print a lawn sign and a banner
5) birth ball
6) massage items/tennis balls (great conversation starter... .doesn't this feel good on your shoulders?)
7) Only put out books if you're going to sell them. Otherwise, I bet you loose some.
8) If you have time, go to the free samples discussion and contact some of those vendors, I bet there are some goodies that you could give away (like preggie pops and luna bars)---BUT DON'T SPEND TOO MUCH TIME ON GIVE-A-WAYS it's the biggest time suck ever and I don't think you get clients from them. That said, at a table is the only place that I think they are worth anything.

Thanks so much! That's all great! I should also have access to a plug and I was going to run different DVDs throughout (Reducing Infant Mortality, BOBB, etc).

I've been in touch with the Chapter Directors for ICAN and will be starting a chapter for my area. I plan to have some info on that with a sign-up sheet for anyone interested in joining.

Thanks for the info!!

Chelsea,

Great info! Thanks, even though it was not my post, I am in a similar situation. You have some GREAT ideas. Do you or anyone else have any ideas for the display board? I was asked to promote my doula business and breastfeeding.

I would love to hear some ideas from you all.

so I am sharing a booth w/ holistic moms at an Earth Fest. I thought of having cold water bottles available for pregnant moms than I wondered if that would be a good idea at an earth fest (plastic bottles).

Any ideas, and also still looking for some ideas on what to put on my display board.
