Newbie question about Preggie Pops -giving out at event

I feel so ridiculous asking this question, but bear with me.

I am attending a small event tomorrorw and have rented a table--I will have my own info, and just doula info in general. I have a game for the kiddies where they can win a lollipop, I'll have breastfeeding info, my brochures and business cards, a few books, and hopefully a tri-fold poster board with doula info and some pictures--if I can find some. I wanted to put out the preggie pops that I received from the threelollies for the preggie ladies who came by. Is it ok to do that? It's not "out of scope" or something like that? I get all paranoid about hurting someone or doing something out of scope and then getting sued or something...yes, I am proably too paranoid, but any input on this would be great!

I don't see it as being any different than handing out free goody bags..I think it would be fine.

Ahhh..I didn't read your thread before I posted mine. It is not out of your scope of practise and you won't get in trouble.

That is the reason that Three Lollies gives you samples is so you can give them out to people. They are basically candy, so there is no harm in giving them to anyone. It is good that you are so concerned about crossing the line. Have a great time at your event.

At events we keep a dish of Preggie Drops on the table with a sign that says what they are, free, take one, yadda yadda. Then we spread a few Preggie Pops out on the table and when any preg women come by we offer them up, "Would you like a Preggie Pop!? They're great for morning sickness and for labour!" They are usually very happy to take them.

I think twice I've gotten a scrunched up face looking at me saying "THOSE didn't work for me" but around here most of the people we have given them to have never heard of them. They are a great way to hand people info though, because it's different when you are coming at them with a lollipop on top of your info instead of just a couple papers and your business card. Hehe

Bribery!

In the past I have strung little slips of paper with my contact info and a short paragraph about Doulas onto the lollipop sticks.
Print out your info onto a sheet of paper, cut into individual rectangles, punch a hole at the top and bottom of each rectangle, then thread one onto the stick of the lollipop.

Make sure the event coordinators are okay with it. When I did a baby fair on the 14th, the coordinator said it was fine to hand out anything as long as the ingredients were listed or I had the ingredient information.
Have fun!

Yvonne is right!!

Fortunately it has been welcomed at the events we've done so far. In June we'll be in our city's prenatal health fair and while we cannot sell any type of product there, we can give away samples and bring it for display and whatnot.

In with my Preggie Pop samples were a bunch of little tiny brochures which gave info on the pops and listed their ingredients. We left these on the table and occasionally someone would ask what's in them.. so we just handed them one of the brochures (I bet there is a different word for them.. leaflet? card? ?) You get the idea.

Thanks for the replies!

The preggie pops have the ingredients listed on the back. Only problem is I only have about 25 of them...so I think I"ll put them in a basket with a sign that says "a treat for pregnant moms" or something like that. I think my lansinoh samples came into today,s o i might give those out too.
