Smile Went To a LLL Meeting!

I went to my first LLL meeting last night. I found it very supportive and helpful! I enjoyed talking about my experiences, sharing stories, and getting useful advice not only on my nursing baby, but on my other young children too! My leader even had 3 huge tubs of books that you can borrow so I borrowed a bunch I don't have to if I enjoy them I will purchase them, since i'm a huge boo lover/collector. I just wanted to let you all know how much I enjoyed it, and I will defintey be telling my clients who choose to nurse that it's a great form of support for them available! And for free!

I enjoyed it so much, I felt so much support, and I have really wanted to just talk to someone about nursing and all the feelings that come along with it, and I could do it there!

That's awesome! At first I was thinking you went as a doula but now realize you went as a mama! That's even better...I'm glad you found the support and like-minded mamas you needed.

I've been to a couple of our mtgs (as a doula) but there's never more than 2-3 mamas there with their nurslings

I have thought recently about attending a LLL meeting, but was wondering if I would feel weird since my baby is already 3 months and I'm not having any nursing problems. But I thought it would be nice to connect with other nursing mamas.

I don't think it's weird at all!!! The couple of women who come to our LLL meetings are just nursing mamas who come to hang out and chat and their kids play together. They do discuss issues if they arise...or if a newbie comes they'll welcome her and answer questions. But I'm sure they'd be super happy to have you there!

(and believe me...all new mamas know who nice it is to connect with and meet other like minded mothers)

Go for it! I joined a month before my sons 1st birthday and wished I have of sooner!! Of course he weaned like a month later! But I still go as a doula and just love being with all those nursing babies.

I LOVE LLL!!!! I joined when my son was around 4 mos and made so many great friends there. LLL meetings are about so much more than just BF, our meetings were more about a healthy lifestyle and our leader was also into aromatherapy, homeopathy, and cloth diapering. I've leaned so much from her!

go for it. I didn't start going until she was over a year old. I didn't have any problems at that time, just like the support and just being around other nursing mamas.
