boiling it all down, mastitis is a breats infection, plain and simple. it is more common in women who are bf, but it is not a requirement.

you may have been more stressed out than usual, eaten less well than usual, slept on it the wrong way, worn a bra that pushed in the wrong place (underwires are notorious for this), or any number of other thigns.

antibiotics are one way to deal with it, but definatley not the only way. feel better soon.

Yes I developed mastitis 1yr after I weaned my son. (I've had it a total of 8x so I knew what it was right away but sure was suprised!)
