Day Two: Escorting Women on their Inner Journey A Workshop for Childbirth Professionals Lead by Miriam Maslin

While each labor contraction brings a woman closer to her baby, every challenge in her life is a doorway to her own rebirth. We, as professionals, can assist each client in this journey towards transformation, healing and growth. To discover our hidden strengths - to perhaps come to this place of knowing that our souls are one with the Master of the Universe - this is our work, this is our labor. Once we own this information, we have the power to do all that we need to do in order to mother our children, to be helpmates for our husbands, to complete our own personal journeys.

Only we have the ability to look at history and learn from our past. Only we have free will, the ability to choose what we want to do with our lives. Only we have the ability to better ourselves. Only we can struggle with the question "Why am I here?" Only we have the ability to look at each challenge in life and understand that within that challenge is opportunity for growth. Only we ask ourselves the question, "How can I connect with my Creator and carry out His will for me?" When these questions are not the guiding forces in our lives, we feel a tremendous void and emptiness. This, Dr Twerski calls "Spiritual Deficiency Disorder".

This is not about religion. It is about being truly human. This is what the inner journey is all about and until we, as childbirth professionals, are consciously traveling on our own journeys, it is very difficult for us to help our clients understand the potential that the birthing experience holds for each of them. We will explore this concept through stories, guided imagery, mini-counseling sessions, and teachings.

Wife, mother, grandmother, and retired interior designer, Miriam Maslin has been a source of inspiration to many: young and old, secular and religious, long-time searchers and those who are just beginning their own “Interior Design”. Her inner journey has taken her across the spectrum from the beginning to the end of the life cycle -- she is a doula and has served as both hospice volunteer and member of the Jewish Burial Society. She incorporates both Polarity Therapy (a system of energy/holistic healing) and spiritual teachings into her work. Miriam leads workshops for women’s groups, childbirth professionals, and all those women interested in spiritual care. You can read more about her work at www.miriammaslin. com

okay we are getting down to the wire now- i have eight women signed up for the first day- we have a limit of fifteen....

for the second day we have nine women signed up- again we have a limit of fifteen...

so if you want to be a part of this wonderful workshop- let me know...

here are a few quotes from folks who have been:
"I attended Miriam’s workshop on supporting women through perinatal death 13 days after the stillbirth of my daughter. Her seminar was just what I needed as a doula and grieving mother. Miriam has the amazing ability to combine the professional side of birthing along with the emotional and personal side. I came away from her seminar with consolation as the doula and as the mother. In a subject as sensitive and painful as losing a child one needs to be aware of the vast amount of tools needed to assist a grieving/birthing mother. Her seminar addresses the loss and grieving process head on and gives a clear understanding of how to support a women and her family while taking care of yourself in the process.

Miriam,

I want to personally thank you for coming and doing our workshop. The weekend after our workshop my dad (step dad) became increasingly ill. He returned to the hospital on the Saturday. If not for your workshop I would have held a different outlook on death. I was there for my dad’s passing, and it was beautiful for him to be surrounded by his family and friends. I don't think I would have been there emotionally had I not heard you speak. I knew I would be physically, but emotionally I believe I was instrumental in making his passing a memorable time for all of us. Between my doula training and your workshop I believe I made a difference.

Thank you for being brought into my life at this most important time.

Miriam,

Your workshop was amazing. Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us and guide us to our own answers and awareness. It was more of a learning experience than I could have imagined and it transcended beyond just learning how to support women through perinatal loss to learning how to support ourselves and all of those around us no matter what the situation.

I would love to see you come back next year and this time, I'll bring more friends! Keep in touch!

Take care,

MaryBeth Nance, CD, CLD

guys she is packing her suitcase and heading this way soon- if we are going to add any more to the class- i need to let her know ASAP... if you have considered this workshop now is the time to do it.

i know as a doula i have helped seven couples with the loss of their babies... it is definitely something that i wish i had had some more training in how to help them.

and i know so many doulas who burn themselves out- so please consider this as a workshop that will help you in your ability to handle the stress and feel rejuvenated.

email me if you are considering joining us!
