Smile PfB Training - Anyone else attending the Harrisburg PA training in August?

My doula partners and I are attending Teri's Passion For Birth training in Harrisburg, PA from August 3-5 and I was wondering if any other Alldoula doulas would be attending too?

I just got my BIG Lamaze training manual (HOLY cow that thing is big!!) and my packet from Teri; I am somewhat overwhelmed but excited too!

I see in past posts that some of you had/have a PfB study group - is that still active?

Thanks!

Me! Me! Me! (but um being that we're sharing a room I guess you already knew that-lol) I've been reading through the material all night and am now reading the book. Very excited (and yeah a bit overwhelmed)

PM Christy (MothertheMother). It's still there, but we haven't been active on it for a while. She can tell you how to access it and you could read the past posts if nothing else. It would be easy to just start it up again, though! Another option could be to start a special Alldoulas group here. If you did that, I'd join. I need a good kick in the rear if I ever hope to certify! I've actually been thinking of attending another seminar for a motivator, but your Harrisburg dates aren't good for me, otherwise I'd seriously consider it. Bummer....

Hi ladies....well, I was ALMOST going to go, but eventually ruled it out due to the driving time (7hrs)...the short amount of time until the workshop and the fact that my daughter decided to get married @ our house next Friday....yes, that would be NEXT FRIDAY. Add the hotel fees, and the fact that we have a family trip on Aug. 7th, so I would have driven home from PA on Monday, and left for our trip on Tues.....a little too much travel all bunched up....so I decided to just go do the Advanced Birthing Concepts training in Oct., here in Dayton. I did my labor doula training with Connie and really liked her. Plus there are a couple other ladies from that class taking this one. I REALLY, really, REALLY, REALLY wanted to do that P4B one though, for some reason that Teri's training really appealed to me....I'll be thinking of you ladies there
Blessings to you...

Please, please, please start a PfB study group here! I seriously need the motivation! I started a yahoo group but it never became active. I wish I could find another training to go to...it would definitely lift me up and get me back on track. You can't beat the fact that once you attend one training subsequent trainings are FREE!! You are going to have a great time and learn so much!

I canNOT quit thinking about this training seminar....ladies, how many are in your room? Got room for 1 or 2 more? IMHO...this would NOT count as meeting with a stranger from the internet!!!...DoulaLori, any chance you'd change your mind and split driving time/costs w/me?? You're near Columbus, right? I'm in Dayton. You won't hurt my feelings if you say NO WAY...well, maybe a little, but that's okay...I'd put a smiley here, but I haven't figured out how to use them yet...LOL

There are already 3 of us in the room, and our third person is a little suspicious of Jess and myself having internet friends as it is....I cannot imagine her reaction if we broke it to her that she would be sharing a room (and possibly a bed) with someone we knew online

If you DO decide to go, PM me and I'll send you the info on where we are staying; the hotel seems to be nice, it's $97 (which is a bargain in Hershey, PA weekend-in-summertime) with two queen beds per room, and includes some kind of breakfast, and it got good reviews on tripadvisor.

I am thinking that your life sounds pretty busy this summer though!!!

I would love to do another training even though I am certified now. I am going to the Lamaze conference in Phoenix in September and have my high school reunion that weekend so it ain't gonna happen for me.

Have fun and don't forget to tell us all about it!!

pfb training...

My life sounds busy??Yepper...it sure is. And I'm one of those perfectionist personalities who loves to have a plan and work a plan....I think that's one reason why my daughter's upcoming wedding has driven me into "crazy-momma-mode" She would NOT have a plan and has changed her UN-plan almost every day!! I think this is one thing the Lord is using to change ME, must say, not a pleasant thing...now I get the smileys...you gotta use the reply, not the quick reply.

I totally get the apprehension over internet-friends. I would FREAK if my kids did it, and I mean literally. I've done it one other time, with a scrapbook lady-friend...there were 5 of us getting together, 4 of us knew each other "in-person"...the other one only knew 1 of us "on-line" and it was a little awkward @ first, but we quickly became fast-friends.

IF I DO decide to go....I would use my husband's travel points @ either the Comfort Inn or maybe a Holiday Inn or the Hampton. I was thinking that if you all joined ME in my reservation and just kicked in say $50 total each for the 3 or is it 4 nights, then that would cover me for my other travel expenses. That would've saved you a little $$ I think, I know the Hampton is a very nice hotel chain, but I THINK we've used all our points there. Comfort Inn is USUALLY nice. I think most of them do have some sort of breakfasts now.

Moot point I guess. I always want to cram more into time/space than should be reasonably possible. When is the next Lamaze exam, do you know?

Blessings to you all,

Oh, I wish I could! If I hadn't already made reservations to be camping Aug 1-4, I would be going! I'm actually a bit NW of Columbus, but only a little over an hour from Dayton. Driving time/distance doesn't bother me at all, so that isn't my issue, and as for the meeting "internet friends".... I just happen to be your OH State OSD Coordinator, and I see that you are new on my list! I need to plan a get together with the Dayton area OSD doulas sometime soon, so as long as you come, we WILL meet for real!

Denise... The PfB training is absolutely wonderful and very worth the wait/drive, etc! I don't want to "take away" from talking about the PA training on this thread, but I'll PM you about a possible OH training if you can't make the PA one. ETA: Nevermind... I see that you'll be on a family trip for the OH one. Bummer... I might see if I can make that one. What's ironic is that just the very week before is when we'll be camping very near to where the OH training is! Denise...You should go to the PA one! I've made that drive lots of times, it's not bad at all....interstate all the way.

P4birth workshop

Thanks Lori, I WOULD so love to go. I did see that OH one, and hem-hawed to my husband about skipping out of our homeschool convention a day early to do it. He said, "Absolutely NOT!!" I get it, since I almost BEGGED him to go to that

I did also see that you head up OSD for OH. I just got the notice that I'm on the list. I wondered how it all works from there....you just call one of us if you get a request? I will definately try to make any meetings!!

My hubby & I are also taking a cruise for our anniversary from Sept 9 - 16th. Hope you don't schedule it then. I'm pretty excited about it, as we've never really taken much of a vacation since we've added new children numerous times That is why I was so hoping to do that P4B training here in a week or so?? That's coming up quickly!!

Right now I'm focused on this wedding....if we LIVE through it...then I'll put all my energy into figuring out if I can handle that extra trip....
Blessings

Hey Denise (I'm getting here on my own thread! )

What cruise are you taking? My dh and I are taking a cruise from Sept 2-9th - it would be quite the coincidence if we were getting off the same ship that you are getting on!

We are sailing on RCCL Mariner of the Seas out of Port Canaverel, FL.

Passsion for Birth

The Passion fof Birth seminar was FANTASTIC !! However, I need a study group too. Someone please start one........ count me in, if you do. Thanks to Denise, I went, and I am so grateful, although totally overwhelmed. But hopefully, it will come together, Teri is the absolute BEST.

Let me know if there is a study group. I would also like to know if you all are having trouble finding someone observe your 12hr. class? Thanks fellow PfB'ers.
