An Event Celebrating International Midwives Day and Local African-
American Midwives and Women Who Support Women in Childbirth
May 5th is International Midwives Day. The DC Chapter of the
International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC) invites you
to join us in honoring our local African-American midwives and women
who support women in childbirth, who have served and currently serve
the Washington community.
This event will honor the historical and contemporary
African-American midwives and women who support women in childbirth
and serve as community leaders, healthcare providers, counselors, and
child advocates for the African-American community.
This event will also feature a showing of the documentary
"Bring'in In Da Spirit" that will share the life experiences,
memories, stories, and significant contributions of African-American
midwives of the 20th century to African-American communities across
the nation.
