Passion for Birth

Hi,
I have been searching many months for the right certifying organization to do my CBE for and I have not been able to find the right fit until....I did a search on this website and saw a bunch of you talking about Passion for Birth and the Lamaze certification. You all sound so enthusiastic and when I looked into it seems to be exactly what I am looking for.

I have been in touch with Teri and we are discussing the possibility of bringing a training here in the fall - that would be south western Ontario for all you local gals.

Anyways, just really excited about the possibility and wanted to thank all of you for pointing me in the right direction and to alldoulas (Tiffany) for being a great resource.

Cheers,
Shawna

Isn't that the truth! I'm about ready to get serious with it again, though!

Great thanks. I can always do with a little extra push and I love learning with people. It was one of the hangups I had about finding the 'right' certification program for me. I found quite a few organizations either didn't have a face to face training or didn't teach 'how to teach' in their curriculum. I have a background in Adult Education so the soundness of the teaching prinicples and having some peer support (formal or informal) is very important to me. Passion for Birth was one of the few programs I found that felt right and met my own requirements for a 'good training'.

Thanks for the support.

My doula trainer, whom I respect and like, told me PfB was the ONLY way I could get my LCCE. She has studied all the programs herself as she looked for what she felt would be the best. I trust her wisdom and insight. I am excited to be going through Teri -- I love her ideas and approaches.

Shawna, keep me in the loop as to when and where you will be doing the training as I am in South Eastern Ontario and my goal is to become a CBE as well! Please be in touch, as I now now renewed faith in the possibility of being a CBE.

Hi Liz and Amanda
Yes, we are hosting it in London Ontario October 27, 28th and 29th at Babeeze in Arms Doula Centre. It would be great if you both could come. For more information you can go to the pfb website or check out www.babeezeinarms.com

If you need a place to stay I am sure we could arrange something. I have offered to have Teri (or whoever comes to do the training) stay at my place in the spare bedroom but we can throw some mattresses down in the Family room if need be or arrange to have you stay with other doulas. Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers,
Shawna

Hi,
I believe the fee for the training is $350 (USD) but like any other certification there are fees on top of this. I think I have it outlined on our website. Also if $ is an issue I am sure there are payment arrangements that could be made.

So what do you think?

Yeah for you!! I say if you have an opportunity to take this training close to you take it!! It was so much fun and I learned so much from Teri. She is an amazing teacher. I walked into the training feeling like I didn't even know where to start to actually teach but walked out of there knowing I had the tools I needed. I still have self study to do and books to read but I know I will be able to put together a really good course outline and my classes will be fun an interesting to couples/mamas attending. I will say it again GO!! ; )

Ok, so I am passionate about it lol

PFB was Great!

I took the class with Teri in Suffern, NY. Really worth it!
I'm still working on my readings and writing my curriculum.
