Midwifery Text-which to choose?

Midwifery: Community-based care during th childbearing year Walsh, L.V.(2001)

This is on the Lamaze recommended reading list BUT any midwifery text is acceptable. I was wondering if any of you midwives-in-training could offer some insight into your favorite books. This book is a pretty big investment (compared to some others on the list) in money and time so I want to chose a really good one. What have you read and what did you read.

I haven't read too many midwifery texts; however, I really like Anne Frye's book, Holistic Midwifery Vol. 1 (and I have heard great things about Vol. 2, although I don't have it yet). In conjunction, Understanding Diagnostic Tests by Anne Frye and also Heart & Hands, by Elizabeth Davis..very thorough. and gives a lot of information on what you are looking for.

I personally would recommend Heart & Hands if you need to read a midwifery text for childbirth education training. It has great photos/illustrations and very readable format that offers great info that can be used for childbirth classes and doula clients.

Otherwise, I recommend Holistic Midwifery Vol. II if needing a text for midwifery training.

My !

Heart and Hands by Elizabeth Davis is a good one. Holistic midwifery volume 2 is good as well, definitely a different kind of reading than the first, but an excellent resource.
