my very first workshop!

I taught a workshop on the weekend all about Labour and Childbirth. It was called 'Confidence in Labour and Childbirth" It was all about trying to help the couples get rid of some of the fears surrounding the pain etc. of labour. I talked about how the body helps to manage the pain if you are able to relax - and also the more educated you are, the less fear you will have, and that makes for less pain. It was a 3 hour workshop and the couples all walked away from it with positive feedback for me and better educated about what to expect and how to deal with it at each stage.
I am not a certified CBE, but someday hope to be - and a few of my fellow Doulas in the area came out to support me for this workshop as well as the CBE who taught my Doula course. It felt wonderful to help these women, and one of the couples emailed me today and decided that they are going to hire a Doula as well. She asked if I could do it, but she is due in may and I am expecting in march - so i can't take any births until September b/c I would like to nurse - so i referred her to some of my fellow Doulas.
ANyway, to make a long story short - my first workshop was FABULOUS and I can't wait to teach it again in September!

Erin

That is great news!!!! I am especially happy to hear that others in your community came out to support you in your efforts. That can make a world of difference when you are trying to get something started.

I just found out today that my DOula trainer will be certifed to teach the CBE course starting in the Fall - so I cannot wait for that, but in the meantime I am definitely going to offer this workshop again in September AND November to get some more practice and to help more moms to be!
