About binders....

Okay, I have been gathering things to use for my binder and packets to give to new clients. My question is what kind of stuff do you put in your binder and what stuff goes in the packet? I am just trying to figure out how to separate it all and organize it.

I don't give clients a package of info (in the beginning we sign a couple contracts and they get some of my cards for their wallets and fridge).

I take my binder with me to prenatal meetings and I have sheets/forms with multiple copies and I'll give them the ones that are relevant, I also have a few that I keep in plastic sheet covers and these are forms/handouts that I'll get back the next time we meet.

I don't give them a packet all at once either. I give them handouts at each prenatal. For example, at the first prenatal we do the pain preference scale, but I keep it in my files so I know. At the second prenatal I give them a handout on using the birth ball and how partners can support in labor, etc. Third prenatal, I give them the "Signs of labor" that they keep. I have about three handouts per prenatal. I encourage them to keep them in folder together so they don't lose it.

I am not truly organized yet, but I am working on that too.
I am trying to put together an "introductory" paket (to give in the 1st meeting) with my personal information, services I provide, basic questions on doula job, like quotes, statistics, etc AND any "free" information I would wanna give to an expectant couple.
IF they decide to hire me I will give them a binder full of information: all the preggie, labor, birth, breastfeeding, wearing your baby, attachment parenting, circumcicion, vaccinations...you name it.
Last, but not least, I prepare "goodie bags" with a couple of sample products that are good for mama & baby.

Hope that helps!

I don't have "packets" just binders.

I loan out the binders at our first prenatal once the contract and deposit are satisfied.

For prospective clients they get a "Dear Prospective Client" letter from me that outlines my role, services, beliefs etc. They also get a handout on doulas and dads and a copy of my brochure and 1 business card.
