How many binders do you have? I'm thinking of getting a full one ready and heading out to staples and getting 2 more photocopied. I want to have 3 just incase I get a lot of cliets.
I have a master and 4 binders, and its not enough. I need about 10.
Has anyone put their binder info on CD? What format do you use? It would be way cheaper, and not so much photocopying and paper usage.

I have a master and 3 binders. I've had two out at the same time before, but not all three yet. I don't take on as many clients at one time as some of our super doulas do. Go doulas!....Go doulas!
I was thinking a CD or DVD too, but I'm not sure how to do it, or what format would work the best. I know some of the moms I've talked to have more time on their computers than to actually read!

Yes, and disks are cheap... each client could keep them. I have spent alot of $$ copying and printing.
Is there a word program that all computers can open? I am thinking about purchasing Microsoft Office, and maybe converting all my word documents. Most of mine are done on whatever program was on my old computer... but I know my new computer can not seem to read them.
What does everyone think?
i have one big binder with many copies in it, and a master binder. I bring my big binder and let clients take whatever sheets interest them and then bring it back home with me.

I have 6 binders, have had all of them out at the same time.
I considered the idea of putting the information on CD and giving them a CD prenatally (BTW PDF format would be the best option) but I HATE and I mean HATE to read things like that at the computer.
I find that my clients take the binders with them to prenatal visits and often read them there while waiting for their appointments.
I do offer for a small fee (to cover disks, covers and labels) to provide the contents of the binder on CD in PDF format at our postpartum visit if they'd like to keep the info for future pregnancies.

I prefer to have things on disk.. but thats just me. They are smaller than books and binders. I guiess I can give clients the choice of what they want. A disk to keep, or a binder that I want back.
I gues sthey can always print what they want from disk..using their own printer, ink and paper.
I will start working on that I think.

Oooh neat idea. It would be cool to put them on a CD like an e-book format or one of those magazine "flipbook" softwares that they could read on CD or online.
People can read e-books on their PDA's.
Something even neater, e-book format can be converted to audio (text-to-speech.)
I'm a geek
There are some free ebook makers and flipbook makers but I can't recommend any.

What kind of disc are you talking about? Like a cd or a floppy disk? I know that many computers don't even have floppy drives anymore so I think a cd would be better if you're going to go that route.

Ummm...Cd. None of our computers use floppy. Or I could also load them on a portable driver and they could just load the file onto their computer.
I the idea of the CD with the binder info! I currently have 3 binders made up and I NEED MORE!!! I have two clients waiting on one, and another client who is due in 3 weeks and we just got started last week, so I printed off the things she asked specifically for more info on and took them to her at our 2nd prenatal this week.
It IS a lot of money to print it all over and over...I thought 4 binders would be enough, but right now I could be using 6 at a time if I had them for everyone!
It has taken an entire black ink cartridge to print one binder...and some of it is in color! Not to mention the paper, and the page protectors and the binder itself and the dividers...ack!
Hmmmm...I guess we could ask which they prefer...CD, and they can print the articles they're most interested in themselves, or binder loaned out until PP visit. I'd prefer a binder personally, so I could read it anywhere...but some might prefer the CD. I'll have to work on that...
