My turn for website critique

I dubbed yesterday "Hell Day". When I finally came out with a design I liked, it only worked in Firefox. And I really mean it only worked in Firefox. It seriously didn't even show up in other browsers. See, proper coding is important. (I wasn't paying attention at that point. Hell Day, remember?) So then it was back to square one! And the current design is almost identical to the first design I ever made. That's how it always works, isn't it?

Anyway, here it is: KacyTittle.net Yay? Nay? Any content I should add, take away, change? Any typos? Weird sentences? As you can tell, I have very simple taste when it comes to web design.

The "Welcome!" page seems pointless, but at the same time, I have no idea what to put there. It would seem oddly naked to have it go directly to the page about me!

It's validated XHTML 1.1, and I've tested in Safari, Firefox, and IE but if it looks weird to you or something doesn't work, please tell me!

*Huddles in a corner scared*

Kacy, I think it's AWESOME! I can't believe you intelligent people can just write all of this script yourself! Just seeing XHTML makes me shudder. I really enjoyed your About Me page--very interesting and fun to read. I especially love this part:

The majority of obstetricians are men, but that doesn’t prevent them from having successful practices! I’m also quite sure my veterinarian has never been a dog, but the jury’s still out on that one!

And your logo just rocks! Way to go!

I love it I couldn't find any problems, and it worked great in Safari

Your code is totally beautimus Kacy I knew you had ninja website skills!

The design is great but the space next to your logo looks so lonely... I feel like I need to hug that mommy and her baby!

Also... don't forget your meta keywords and description (I'm sure that's already on your to do list).

Thanks!

I know, it looks sad! I was wondering what to put there, but I didn't want to clutter it up. Hrrrm. I think I may have some ideas.

I just read this article and was pondering whether the meta keywords and description was worth it, but I'll probably do it anyway to cover my bases.

Okay, I added a little bit of detail on the right side of the header so it's not so sad. What do you think? Weird? I don't know what it looks like in IE, though.

Oooh, I like it, very pretty! Is there any way to make it a bit darker?

Yeah, I was just making it match the background color of the text area. I'm a perfectionist like that. Do you think it would look better darker, then?

I do, just a bit darker--but I am no expert in website design by far!

Maybe not, but you know what looks good to you. I'll see what I can do. Tomorrow.

I couldn't even tell you had a background color in the text area! I think the header deco you added should be a touch darker but it looks fantastic! I think it adds a little femininity too.

Also, any chance you would colorize your graphics in the footer blue, so they don't pop out so much? It feels like they compete with your logo.

PS: YES! You should have meta keywords and a description.... that's just ONE article and you know it can't hurt.

I'll probably darken it a tad.

Yeah, I thought those buttons looked a little bright! Kinda migraine-inducing, really.

Added the metas. Happy?

I think it looks clean and fresh; not overwhelming or cluttered in the least. I agree that your welcome page is a bit too stark, though. I really like the other pages with pics of some kind and I think they add a lot...maybe you could try adding a simple pic/graphic to your welcome page where you have text, b/c, honestly, when it first loaded on my screen, for a split second I thought I had been sent to an "under cunstruction" page, KWIM? Other than that, it is really great! The logo is so awesome and very professional! After seeing logos like that, it makes me sad that I have had so many t-shirts and other stuff printed up with my home-made logo! (no offense to my dh! He did a great job! especially since he'd only been working in adobe for a couple weeks when he did it and technically could not draw to save his life! ...you should'a seen the "bunny" he drew for my dd the other day....looked like it was gonna go all ninja on her butt and eat someone!)
