Website Question

For all of you with your own websites, how did you get started? What web service did you use to create & host your site? I'm still a year or so away from doing one but I wanted to gather info and start research & design now. I'm curious on anything you can share about how you got your sites up and running.

Thanks,

I designed my own site and now design doula sites as well. I didn't know anything at first. Started reading about HTML and designed mine that way and worked my way up to Dreamweaver.

I use Microsoft Office Live and it's completely free for the domain and hosting. I use free stock photos, and I use Vertical Response for mailing list management and Bravenet for free forms. You have to use their templates and don't have a lot of freedom with fonts and such, but if you just want a basic site to get you going, I'd definitely recommend free, and buy up when you want something fancier.

Good luck!
