Another business name
Ok, I have been driving myself crazy trying to come up with a business name. So, DH has been helping. He thought of : Hero Support doula services (he said since all moms are heros and I am supporting them) His idea for the logo includes a pregnant belly sort of with a cape. At first I totally at this, but it's growing on me. So, in all honestly is it to "corny" ? You can tear it up all you want since it's DH's idea

My only worry is that it might be perceived that YOU are the hero for supporting the moms.

Ok.....* breathe*......I'm really cringing at the thought of replying, but I did say in another post somewhere that opinions should be honest. Truthfully, at first impression, I'm not really too hot on the word "Hero", nor of the mental picture I have of a pregnant mom with a cape (I'm seeing a pregnant Wonder Woman ). It's cartoonish to me, and doesn't convey what I tend to think of when I think "doula", "mother", "birth", "baby", etc. I will end this by saying that this is my own personal take on it. Others may or may not like it, but the most important thing is....Do YOU like it? Does it convey the feelings that you want conveyed? Does it represent you and your services well? If the answer to all of those questions are "yes"......then go for it!

That is a good point, Utah! That ran across my mind as well, but I forgot to mention that as I was typing.

That's what I was afraid of! DH is all excited that he's helped me, but I knew I could get some "real" feedback on here! What do you think of Confident Birthing?

I actually liked the first one, and i think it could be fun with the right logo, catch-phrase, and website/materials. I think with a catchphrase, you could clear up who the hero is.
At first I thought you might mean "Hera," which I think would also be neat.

I really like the whole idea and think the cape is REALLY cute! It would definitely be eye-catching and attention-getting!
I do agree with the others, however, that you would need to work on expressing that by 'Hero' you mean the mom and not you...doulas CAN save the day but it seems a little misleading if that's how they interpret it.

The thing I worry with the hero and cape part is the comments women who try for a natural birth get about "you don't have to be super woman, have medication." So does this potentially make it seem like you would ONLY take on natural birthing women. I realize it could be a stretch, but it was just something I thought of and wanted to share.
I really like the Confident Birthing. Another thing to think about with that name... is there any chance you would want to do post-partum work or other types of services later on. It would be a pain to change names later so just consider how you could expand on the name should your servies expand.
Good luck on choosing a name that you like and represents you.

That's the problem I see with that name! In the future I would like to be able to expand. Why is this so hard for me?

My train of thought when hearing "Hero Support" is more along the lines of dads cheering/coaching mama from the sidelines, conjuring images of excited noise at what should be a calm and peaceful time, in my opinion. It really does stick out to me as something a dad would have chosen, so maybe you'd win some points with partners for it, but you'd be potentially losing those who are looking for a "gentler" kind of image.

What about something like "Confident Woman", "With Confidence", or "Confident Beginnings"?
