Can you help me with a business name?
I'm SO uncreative when it comes to these things, and I'd like to get a nice name registered before they are all taken. I'm looking for something that will pertain to the doula services I will be doing, but also that will carry over when I eventually become a midwife. Can anyone help me?!

Oh my gosh, I just did the same thing as you! I chose Expectations... for the doula business and Sister Moon Well Woman Care for my future midwifery practice. For SSWWC I registered that as my domain name. I haven't got a business lis or fict. bus name. I probably should but money is really tight.
What I did was I took about a week and jotted down whatever came to me and those close to me (my sister, my kids, my parents, dh, etc.) then I chose from those.
I hope this helps you. Did you see my dd's name is Linzey, her birth story is in the birth stories section. Her birth was my best birth.

I couldn't think of a name either, so I'm just using my own name, both for my doula business and my massage therapy practice (once I get licensed).

I have finally chose the name : Baby n' Hands Doula Services. I at first was not looking for a business name, but I just recently came up with that title .I liked it & kept it. For along time it was just: Tashina Marker Birth Doula Services.
Maybe it just takes time & one day ,poof it's there.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll just have to keep thinking and hope that I come up with something creative before I'm certified .

I agree about writing down everything that comes to mind, and ask others for opinions too.
Then go back and see what words stand out to you.
When I did this I noticed that the word Gentle had been suggested several times and ended up using that.
I chose Gentle Beginnings Doula Service.
I think it can take some time to find a name that truly fits you and it's okay to not have a name immediately.
Good luck and let us know what you choose.
Amy

I agree that seeing on paper does make a difference. And write EVERYTHING that comes to mind. Even if you think it is hokey and would never consider it you never know what that word might trigger next!!

When I read this I immediately thought of 'heart and hands' but don't know if I read that somewhere else and stole it on accident. Lol

Someone suggested that to me in my business name help thread.
I'm playing with it a bit to see if I like it. I have a great pic I want to use on my business cards. I'd post it but I'm not on my computer. I'll do it later if I think of it.
The only thing I don't like about it is when I was growing up, our church had a benevolence outreach by that name. So to me, it doesn't "say" doula or midwifery.

Well...you could call it like 'Heart and Hands Birth Services' or Doula Services or something like that. That's my favorite so far...along with Labor of Love

Yeah, that's what I have:
Hearts and Hands Doula Service
And later I can add "and Midwifery" to it or something.
Still, it just rings of handing out food, helping to pay bills and stuff like that. I know..I'm weird that way. LOL

have you done a google search on heart and hands? there are quite a few. it reminds me of elizabeth davis' midwifery book, which i love, so I would bet there are more than a few businesses named that.

I think Elizabeth Davis, a Midwife in the Bay Area, has copyrights to Heart and Hands. Google it if you can.
