Where do you get your informational references?

Hi All!

I'm working on compiling info for my website, tri-folds and half sheet fliers. I'm wondering where you all get your refrence info? Did you take it off the Dona, Alace, Cappa, etc sites? Or from articles from Mothering or the like.

I'd really like to hear what you all do. I'm in the process of setting up my office and laying the foundation for my Doula business and eventually my midwifery practice. KWIM? Filing and stuff is NOT my forte' I want a solid organized system set up before I get busy with clients.

Thanks in advance for any ideas you all might have.

Love & Light,

Jill

Do you mean resources? Like other websites and things to read?

Talking Jill....

I just put down some sites that I had visited before and liked. There are a bunch out there to choose from. My list is not at all exhaustive (and I will be adding more in the near future), but feel free to use whatever resources I have on my website that you like (I just have links right now, but some people list books, too). If you do go there, click on "Expectant Parent Links".

I took mine from places I frequent. Mine is not exhaustive either.

I mean the stats. Like Doulas reduce the rates of cesareans by... That kind of thing. I'm also making tri-folds and half sheet fliers. The benefits of Doulas and breastfeeding.

Thank you so much for your help!

Thumbs up Oh......Ok!!

Mine came from my CAPPA doula training manual, but I think their website has those listed as well. For CAPPA (and probably everyone else), the information was originally obtained from Mothering the Mother: How a Doula Can Help You Have a Shorter, Easier and Healthier Birth by: Klaus, Kennell, and Klaus (1993).
Newer editions of this book are titled: The Doula Book . If I remember correctly, their stats were taken directly from a study.

HTH!

Thanks! I was wondering if there was a more recent study? I figured I'd look at all the organizations and glean the info from them.

I really appreciate all the help!

Thanks!

That's a good idea. Please post if you do find something more recent! I've wondered about that myself, actually.

I got a lot of my info from the CAPPA doula training manual as well. I think most of the ideas for what info I wanted on the site came from there but a lot of the content I took from different books I have read. In addition I looked a lot of other doula websites and jotted down what info I liked on the sites. That gave me a starting point for what pages I wanted. I do plan on adding pages as I go but I am happy with it for now. I have not yet made up a flyer or brochure but I intend to just condense the info on the site. I would like them to kind of "match". I am trying for the professional look! lol I have not yet used the microsoft publisher (though I think I will try it out for the brochure) but I have an older copy of Print Master that is really easy to use! I made up a brochure for my daughters pre-school last year and everyone loved how it turned out. I think the software was around $20 and I have done a lot with it. The only draw back is you have to have the software istalled to view the file. In other words if you tried to save the brochure to disk and take it up to kinko's for a bunch of copies I don't know that they could open it.?. That is why I am going to try out Microsoft. Ok, too much info, I know, but I hope it helps

Yes! That helps! What you guys are saying is exactly what I was thinking. I was just curious if there were any newer studies. I also just wanted to pick your brains Thank you!
