Hi...
There hasn't been a post here for awhile and I thought I would check on the Distance Study Group......
Anything new and exciting?
We started a monthly get together for our local Doula students. It's been really nice.
I present a topic each month. This month I reviewed the stages of labor - next month I am going to do pelvic anatomy. I'm approaching the topics from a midwifery point of view - we figured that the pertinent doula topics are covered in our manual. The notes from the topics I discuss will get dispersed to the distance students and placed in the manuals.
Then we brainstorm about anything that comes up - marketing ideas, motivation for studying, birth stories.
I'm hoping we can make connections and keep each other motivated through the winter months.
I'd love to hear what other individual/groups are doing to keep their studies moving along.

You've been busy!

Its been a busy busy month for me I'm taking Psychology and Anthropology, and waiting on my transcripts to transfer to a new school, where I'm going to major in Maternal/Child Health: Lactation Consulting.

Not much going on here.
I am considering taking massage therapy, or reflexology. I need to decide soon.

I was just checking out OPS and considering taking the BF online course. I also emailed Hypnobirthing regarding their course in April. I'm really interested in that and my daughter would like to use Hypnobirthing for her birth in July. Working full time - the online course seems to fit the best. I'll be really happy when my regular job doesn't interfere with my passion!!

I think massage is a great skill for doula work....reflexology too.
Shannon - you are right down the road....come up for one of our doula gatherings !!!
We are on a monthly schedule now, although during the winter folks tend to hibernate.
I'm hoping the course content and some hot tea will get them out.....
