Question Question about Hypnobirthing

How many of you have had experiences with Hypnobirthing? I've had one mom and dad who used it at our birth center. They didn't take the course ~ just read the book and she actually did really well. Baby was OP and labor was prolonged, but she delivered a 9+lb baby w/o meds or tearing. My daughter is really interested in it and I've been doing a lot of reading. I've become very intrigued! Anything you can share would be very welcomed!

I would find a good practitioner. The book is great along with the CD but it is really good to get the method first hand.

I used the HypnoBabies home study course with my 3rd child. More often than not I fell asleep while doing the tapes, but my mind still got the info. When the time came and they induced 4 weeks early, I had 36 hours of labor without one whit of pain. That was with a cervical gel and pitocin, too. Unfortunately it ended in a c-section - I wasn't the least bit prepared for the induction or a way to help baby out when it wasn't time, but up to that point it was seriously the best labor I've had. I didn't even need to do the tapes when it was time, I just intuitively knew what to do and that what I was feeling were nothing more than pressure and tightening. LOVED IT.

I highly recommend it. You can check it out at: http://www.hypnobabies.com
