Aviva Institute?

Man, i have posted so much today here and elsewhere i cant remember if i already wrote this, sorry if i did...Has anyone had any experience with or heard anything about Aviva Institute? It's primarily a midwifery program but they offer a distance education birth doula certification program. Its 6 weeks long and $350 which is signicantly shorter and cheaper than other programs.
Which I"m not sure what i think about that. I've heard lots of people say its not even necessary to certify, and while i have some births lined up to get me started and have already read almost all the books on the required reading list for this program, it might be nice to get certified just to make sure i didnt miss any areas of study. And in THAT regard, a shorter cheaper program sounds better to me (not because i want to cut corners in my education but because i've already done so much self study)

anyway, thoughts? I've seen their ad on this forum and also in Mothering magazine...

I have no experience with Aviva (although I'm familiar with them), but I did a quick search for you, which resulted in this thread. It may not be what you're looking for, but there ya have it.

I have taken a few courses with them, I was going to do my midwifery schooling thru them, and perhaps i will in the future... I am starting the CBE course next week with Aviva.
There courses are good, but intense timelines (at least imo). You have assignments for the week and are required to be online 5 of 7 days in the week. This is, in part, why I decided at this time their midwifery schooling isn't for me.

I don't have any personal experience with the school, although I think it looks awesome and hope to one day take some of the courses thru them.

However, the director was my midwife 13 years ago and I know the doula instructor because we lived in the same area for years. She is awesome and I'm sure the doula program is very good.

I am currently a midwifery studet of Aviva Institute and I also took their birth doula program. Tamy is an amazing instructor, with a lot of experience. As Brandy said, it is an intense 6 weeks, but it is pretty enjoyable! Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions, or would like me to elaborate!
