CBI Lactation Course Update

I got this in my email today...

We are in the final stages of planning the
requirements. At the moment they are:

- support breastfeeding women for 40 hours (this hour requirement
may change as we continue working on the course, possibly 50 hours although
I am looking at ways we can keep it to 40)

- write communication assignment on breastfeeding experience
(existing students do not have this requirement as they will already have
done the assignment on another topic for a different course)

- write a teaching plan for a 2 hour breastfeeding class

- run breastfeeding class

- interview a lactation consultant

- interview a breastfeeding mother

- lactation physiology exam (topics to be determined)

- 5 book reviews

- Survey on lactation support services in your community

There will be a series of other smaller activities that do not need to be
handed in or assessed by the trainer.

We have rescheduled the launch date of the lactation course. Apologies for
those who are waiting for it to come out! Given the volume of topics to cover
and because we want the course as much as possible to be sound preparation
for those who wish to continue with further education and sit the ICBLE exam
to become lactation consultants, we making the course deeper which requires
more time. The course will be launched in September 2008.

Now Sept?? UGH mannnnnnnn I was so hoping it would be starting this month! Oh well I guess that might be a Godsend considering two carpal tunnel surgeries ( I wouldn't have that much time for it right now anyways LOL)

I got this too and I can't wait!

I wish it were still this month but it gives me time to focus and hopefully finish my doula certification before starting this.

i waited to pay for this, and now i'm glad i did. i can't wait for it to come out. i am so excited to get started on it!

I wonder if prior breastfeeding counselling courses will be considered for recognition before getting this. I am about to start my Breastfeeding Counsellor course here in Australia
