If you take their Birth Doula training, they will send out three huge manuals filled with information about being a Doula, a womans anatomy, and so on.
When you have read through all of the manuals and completed independent research online and in other textbooks, you'll submit a detailed assignment demonstrating that you understand the communication portion of being a Doula.
You'll also complete 8 exams that make up a total of 100 questions, and provide feedback for each stage of your course. In addition to all that, you'll write up book reviews for 3 books chosen from their recommended reading list, and provide detailed accounts of the women you support during pregnancy, labour, and birth.
If you take a look at CBI's website, you'll see a list of the requirements for certification. CBI offers the most comprehensive course available today for Doulas.

The tests are online and you take them when you are ready. You can access the manuals online before you get them in the mail. |
