Question VBAC Specialist Class from Ontario Perinatal?

Is anyone currently taking or have taken the VBAC Specialist course from Ontario Perinatal? Or any of the other short courses from OPS? Care to share anything about it? How long does it take? How much information is learned, etc? Posting here or PM me is great. Thanks!

Jacquie.

Yes, I am taking it right now. I like it so far and Kathy is very nice!

There are 5 units, each has reading, study questions, and an assignment. You also have to do a case study by choosing from 4 different scenarios.

I just looked closer at the site and I now see like 3 or 4 classes I want to take It might be a good idea to try to get my doula certification out of the way first (at least the reading and other stuff besides the births )

Are there any required texts? If so, can you let me know what they are? And thanks so much for sharing!

I looked on their site yesterday and found about 4 classes I wanted to take! I'm trying to raise the money for them right now, but I am also in training through 4 different places right now for childbirth ed, christian childbirth ed, lactation ed, labor doula and postpartum doula. I'm not sure if I can fit in any more! I really want to though.

I just started this course, and I'm sure it's going to be a great experience. Just doing the first assignment, I felt like I processed a couple of things about the c-sections I've been to that I hadn't been able to express before. What a powerful feeling!

This sounds like a great idea. One question though, can it be done via correspondence ?

I would love to do the VBAC course.

I'm sure there is nothing like this in Australia.

I'm not doing there VBAC course (but i'll get to it) but I'm working on their sibling support program. Just finished Unit 1. So far I like it. It seems at first like there isn't much to it but it really gets you thinking and to work with information you have and getting information you need. and is sooooo reasonably priced

As a note. I know Kathy is having some health problems with her mother and since she is the only one for these courses she has been kinda MIA. So should you sign up or email her just know that it might take awhile for a response.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the status of Ontario Perinatal is I know the owner/operator was having some health issues. Are they currently still running their courses? I really think that taking the VBAC Specialist course would be a great to take.

I don't really know, but the website looks current. Have you tried emailing her?

I am happy to announce that Kathy is doing well and she has revamped the programs and anxious to get started again.
I am one of her instructors and I did take numerous courses with her before her mother got very sick and passed away. It has been a rough year for her and OPS but I know she is ready to get going again.
