Aviva Institute

A local friend recommended Aviva Institute for an online Postpartum Doula course. Has anyone here taken it? Would you recommend it?

I have not taken the postpartum course, but I did take the Birth Doula course, and am in the midwifery program, and I really love it!

The only BIG issue I have for this school is they are NOT accredited, and also when they (hopefully) become accredited they are going to more than double their price of tuition.

True, accreditation always puts the price up.
(That is why I'm glad I got my foot in the door early!!!!)

It is more expensive then other programs to start with as well....
I think a large part of that is the availability of instructors and tech.
Being internet based, they have to be there... a lot!

I have taken the Postpartum Doula course which is taught by the same incredible teacher who taught the Childbirth Educator course (which I also took). These classes are FAR more indepth than anyother classes I've looked at and the convenience of learning from home and doing practicum in my own community was absolutely invaluable. From what I understand the cost of the open courses (Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Perinatal Fitness Instructor, etc) are not increasing, just the tuition in the midwifery program. Hope that helps!!

I have taken the labor doula course and I love it! I am now taking my last preq so that I may enter their midwife program. By the time the 3 yrs are over I think they may be accredited. They are working very hard right now to do so.
