Would like to start Volunteer Doula Program
Hey everyone,
I am a newly trained Doula, and still certifying at this time. I am looking to work with the teen mother and low income family population. I live and work in a very poor city and we have a sky-high teen parenting rate. I see the need for a volunteer doula program that I know hospitals in other places have. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on who to approach about this, and how to do so while protecting my project ideas?
Thank you!

Is there is a teen pregnancy crisis center in your area? That would be the place to start, I would think.
Welcome!

I actually am a member of a similar type of non-profit, if you are looking for a benchmark, you could talk to the operators of this program www.everyday-miracles.org

Would you maybe post a review of it once you read it? I've got it on my wish list ...

Oh, yeah I can totally do that! I am still new to alldoulas, so can I do the review here? I for sur will be doing that on amazon. If we can do it here, I got tons of other Doula books I can write a review for.

ideas
I do it here where I live...and I contacted Family Planning, Adoption Agencies (for Mom's giving up babies), drug rehab centers (this is good experience for working with women who really need to have a drug free birth), high school counselors, and I posted ads with information on it at different stores that sell maternity/baby items! Best of luck! I have had quite a few cases where the young ladies/women would have had NO ONE if it wasn't for my services...and it makes it really heart warming and rewarding! GOOD LUCK~
