Do just one thing

Can you name one thing you have done this month to advocate for pregnant women, (if it was during a birth, what information did she get from you that was empowering and she was able to make an informed decision) or one thing you plan to do to expand the birth network in your community. Anybody do anything 'radical' ?

Monday, I wrote to Oprah ....again I'm beginning to think that she doesn't care about 'this birth business'. She's just Not much....I know, and I'm perhaps wasting my time on her.

Not only do I mention what a doula is to many unsuspecting people that I have encounters with on a daily basis...I am going to be on an AM drive time Health and Wellness segment this upcoming Monday...Yea!!!!! I am chatting on-air with one of my current homebirth clients. We will cover surface topics of Natural Birthing!

I took a current client to prenatal yoga (on the house), am doing her bellycast (she only paid for the plaster gauze), Guiding her Blessingway this Sat., and meeting with her on Sunday to practice pain coping and meditation. As well as attending her birth. She is 18, just graduated high school two months ago. And, the father is 17. Not yet graduated from high school. I felt like I was absolutely her Birth Guardian. I am humbled and honored to serve her...she and all Mother's are Sacred Beings.
I feel like my support empowers her. She is having a homebirth, and already is such a mindful human.

I just made arrangements with a local business to do monthly lectures for the general community on natural birthing, sustainable living, and peaceful parenting.

I also convinced the owner that she should sell real cloth diapers (as opposed to the seventh generation ones that she sells now).

I also wrote to Oprah last week re: birth, doulas, & midwives.

Wrote to a local hospital re: reversing the decision to discontinue water birth.

Updated the Fl Friends of Midwives website and made them a message board and finished their Cafepress store.

Organized our birth network chapter some more and made us a message board.

Finished a PBi module to bring mother nature to mothers.

Gave info to a woman in Miami (pregnant family friend) who couldn't believe how many options she had that she didn't know she had. She in turn visited a birth center and is planning a water birth.

I am so glad to hear that you all have written Oprah! I was not going to thinking I would be the only one. But now know this, my mind has changed.
