My doula group is bringing Suzanne Arms here!
One of my former students met Suzanne Arms' rep at a state music festival. She's going to be in our state for a national conference, and wants to tour some cities afterward.
My doula group is going to sponsor a talk here in our city! I'm so excited, what a rare treat to have a national birth icon in our small city.
For those who don't recognize the name, Suzanne Arms is a world renowned mother-baby activist. She is the author of 7 books, including "Immaculate Deception," which revolutionized the birth movement and was named a New York Times Best Book of the Year. Arms is founder and director of the non-profit organization Birthing the Future. Also a filmmaker, her works include "Giving Birth: Challenges and Choices" and "Five Women, Five Births." She is currently finishing a television documentary for PBS titled simply, "Birth."
Yaaaaaaaay! I'm going to speak with her in person tomorrow to nail down a title for her talk.
