Wanting to attend the DONA Trainer Training next year
I have decided (a while ago) that education is my passion. Yes, I love birth and going to births, however the uncertainties and the time off I will need come December may take me out of the loop (or at least have me re-evaluate the running of my business) for a while. However, teaching and trainings can always happen even with a baby.
I am curious about the DONA Trainer process, I read the stuff on the website but I am wanting clear answers. Who are the approved CBEs? Is my OPS certificate going to hold water? What if group classes aren't in the cards, are there exceptions? I really, really want to do this because I think the most i can fuel the fire for others, the better. We are pretty limited in our choices of trainers here in Southern Ontario and I know some spice is required.
My goal is to be ready for Georgia next year. Come hell or high water I will be at that conference!

Good luck with all your plans. I have no answers for your questions, but I am sure that you will find a way to do it.

I'm also interested in eventually becoming a DONA doula trainer so am interested in what others have to say. And I will also be at the Georgia conference next year... it's about 6 hours from my house! So we will finally get to meet!

Why don't you contact the education director for DONA? I am sure she would be happy to answer your questions. I believe it is Pat Predmore.

Amanda, there is a requirement to teach X number of group childbirth education series with a minimum number of students.
We have an AWESOME bi-lingual doula in our group who we'd love to become a DONA Trainer and she's having a dickens of a time meeting that specific requirement and from what I recall, they don't make exceptions on that part
