Questions about becoming a DONA BD Trainer

Hey girls,

I posted this on the DONA group page on FB but so far no one has answered me. Maybe one of you lovely ladies will know or direct my question to someone who would know.

My goal is to one day be a Birth Doula Trainer for DONA as I would love to share my passion with others and I believe so strongly in what DONA brings to the birthing community.

My questions are this. Will DONA accept my certification with HypnoBirthing as the teaching component? I really have found my niche in HypnoBirthing and am not totally prepared to get involved with another program with no intention of teaching it. Is there anyone that might be able to answer that.

Also if I have providing trainings with another organization, would that help me reach my quota of hours?

I have wanted to be a Doula trainer for years and I would really like to know what the alternatives are in the teaching aspect. Thanks a bunch.

I honestly am not sure, but I know that my DONA trainer mentioned that we couldn't use HypnoBirthing as a cbe course to observe, although HypnoBabies was okay - she said it was because HypnoBirthing does the "don't ask, don't tell" policy and doesn't really teach about the "what if's" (although I haven't taken a HypnoBirthing course, so if I'm wrong, I apologize!). I guess it all depends on whether DONA is looking for your experience as an instructor or as a combination of an instructor and your teaching of all aspects of cbe.

I would suggest contacting your rep for DONA or just heading to the site and contacting them that way. They will make sure your question gets answered even if they have to shift it around to the correct person!
