Pretty much just doula. I also teach private prenatal classes.
In the past i have worked retail and admin, but I love what i do, and everything else makes me crazy or really bored.
I volunteer alot also:
Firefighter/medical responder, beautification commitee, parent mentoring, ALLDoulas, community hall board. I just gace up parent councel at school this year.
For some extra $$ I babysit my friend's daughter in the summer, I sell things occasionally on ebay, and I am now staff for this wonderful site-volunteering of course. But really I am a full time SAHM.
I really really really hope to be able to doula and pp doula full-time within a couple of years.

I'm mostly a homeschooling mom of a 16 yr. old (18 yr. old is finished with school). No monetary pay there, of course.
I am presently a contracted doula for a local CNM midwifery where I am on-call most of the time, unless I tell the CNM that I can't be for some reason. I attend 1-3 hospital births per month on a regular basis as her contracted doula. I also take private clients, for an additional fee, for those who wish to reserve my full doula services instead of receiving just the hospital support that is purchased through the midwifery.
I also do volunteer receptionist work once a week at the midwifery. When one of the full-time receptionists go on vacation or is ill, I do get paid for subbing for them and running the office on my own. Tomorrow is one of those such days...just the CNM, her clients, and I. I have my own key to the office and everything; it's a neat place to be as a doula as I definitely "have my feet in the door".
I'm working on my Lamaze CBE cert and plan to be adding cbe classes as an additional source of income. I also volunteer as the Operation Special Delivery Ohio & Michigan State Coordinator. Of course, I also volunteer my time here as one of the Alldoulas Administrators.
Lucky you Lori...
We do not have any midwives here at all.
this makes my blood boil - until about a month ago - i (wrongly) assumed that all women in canada had access to midwives. it makes no sense that i can have a midwife in ontario and you can't over there. grrrrrrr.
anyways, i work part time for my dad (at a home office) as his marketing director.
i work for my parents at their restaurant, and go to school, i haven't had any clients yet, and i'm crossing my fingers it doesn't interfear but when the time does come, my proffesors will understand.
I work part-time in a drug store, they are pretty understanding, though I'm not sure what will happen in August when my very understanding boss transfers to another location. I used to look after some kids but only have one left and his mom just had a baby so he'll be gone soon and then I'm probably a doula full time.
My future plans include taking a CBE course and teaching when I'm not doula-ing.
I am a WAHM doing medical transcription. This summer I picked up one of my daughter's friends to "kid" sit for all summer. I also volunteer as a Girl Scout leader and here on the AllDoulas site. I don't have many doula clients - 1-2 a year but only because this town isn't fully embracing the doula experience yet. Soon they will!
