Client in early labor...babysitter isn't home this morning!

I'm chatting online with my client who's 41w1d and she's in very early labor (started up some yesterday afternoon).

There is a family across the street and my girls are good friends with their youngest daughter. I've made arrangements with their older daughter to do babysitting if I need to leave for a birth and dh is at work.

They aren't home! Figures huh?

Of course I'm not going anywhere right this minute, it will be at least this afternoon if not this evening after dh is home. Still, I just thought it was amusing that now that this Mama is doing something, my babysitter isn't available.

Usually thats the way it goes.... hopefully nothing speeds up until you have someone in place to watch your kids.

i think there is a timer in moms that say ok my doula is busy or out of a sitter i think it is time LOL hopefully it stays slows for a while. this is why i always have 2 plans

My last birth all 4 of my babysitter plans fell through and I had to scramble! NOT FUN!!!

Never said I didn't have more than one plan.

Oh please, I was in line for the Harry Potter book last night and thought, what if my client calls, do I leave the line? Will I still have time to get the book and meet her at the hospital. I think these are thoughts and problems that plague every doula at one point or another.
