Childcare for births

So i have 2 women available to watch my son for births. 1 is the main one and then a back up. I have no family and have recently moved and haven't ventured out to make too many new friends yet. Well i just found out that my back up is moving at the end of this month, to another province. And my main one might be going back to work 3 days a week. So now what do i do? I have a birth due mid-end september and the begining of October. After than i'm not taking anymore for a while because we will be traveling a lot and i'll be due.
I was thinking of posting on a doula group forum that's local if any doula's want to trade childcare? What do you think?

That sounds like a good idea! I'd always be happy to trade childcare with another doula. Good luck finding someone!

I think that sounds like a great idea. Especially as you are just talking about a couple of births and then you will be off for a while. Most doulas are mothers too and understand the frustration of having to find appropriate, trust worthy care for their kids when they have to go to a birth.
It certainly can't hurt to ask!

Good question,
K.

i think you have a good idea in posting on a doula group. i recently posted the same request on a local parenting board, and got several offers from women i know and trust.

guess it would work as long as your doula babysitter doesn't have clients at the same time.

I know what you mean. I have the same kinds of concerns. My MIL was my back up sitter, but she recently started a new job & no longer has the flex time she used to have & my hubby is now in a management position & needs to be in the office more often. I think asking other doulas is a good idea. I do have a friend who is also a doula in training & we have talked about exchanging childcare, but we haven't really figured it all out yet.
Good luck! I hope it jives for you soon.
