Feeling down

I had a client call me today for doula services, but she's due in TWO weeks. On one hand I was thrilled because that means that I could be certified in the next few weeks. On the other hand, I'm not sure if I have a sitter. With the last birth I attended, I had to call my husband home from work and I don't think his boss was too happy about it. So with this client I'm not counting him as an option during the day. The person that I would call next will be out of town for a week starting next week and then when he gets home, has oral surgery. The third family I would call is in the process of moving away and they're not sure if they'll be available when I would need them. So now I'm stressed trying to find an option and worrying that I won't be able to take this client because I cannot find childcare.

Nice way to ruin a birth high .

Aaw, Lindsey. If it is right, it WILL happen! You'll find a way if you're meant to be there! Chin-up and all the best.

Blessings,

What about checking out drop in time for childcare centers?

Are there any homeschooling organizations around, maybe you can find a homeschooling teenager?

I can't help with your problem at hand. Childcare seems to be one of the biggest obstacles facing many birth doulas, and we make our choices on what is best for the family in that regard, but I just wanted to offer a and tell you that you will have more clients.
Goodluck

Thanks ladies for listening to me vent! I'm still looking for options. This is just so last minute since she's due so soon, I have to rush everything. And I don't want to turn her down and have her go through labor without a doula (she's looking to hire me because I'm charging a cheap rate because I'm still certifying). Ah, the tough life of a doula .

If this client is not right for you, the next one will probably come along soon enough. Don't rush it and good luck!
