Pregnant, tired, and selfish

I'm 6 weeks pregnant and I'm sooooooo tired. I've been sick since I found out I was preggo (first with a stomach bug and 2 days later I caught a nasty cold) and I'm starting to feel better but I'm so tired and just not feeling up for this client I have. I feel bad cause I know I'm not going to be able to give it my all. She's not due for 2 weeks, but this is her 3rd and she tends to go early. Birth could be any day now. Uhg, I just needed to vent. Tips and/or sympathy are welcome!

I would have died having to doula from about 5 weeks to 10 weeks or so. I would pass out anytime anywhere. Good luck and to you!

Do you have a back up or can you get one? Either way, be kind to yourself and yes, that means you do have permission to be selfish as sometimes that is the only way we can get the rest we need. Good luck.

Just want say that i feel for you! Those first weeks of pregnacny are tough as far as being tired and with being sick on top of it - YIKES! I agree that maybe you should find a back up. If birth is long, you will be really drained which isn't good for you, your baby or the mom you are helping.

Thank you so much ladies! I really appreciate the kind words. I'm actually feeling much better now that I kicked the cold! I was feeling particularly down about this client because she has a really difficult family situation, and it's emotionally draining. But she needs all the support she can get, and I didn't want to find a back-up her. I talked with a very wise and experienced doula last night and she lifted my spirits! I'm feeling much more prepared and excited about this birth now that I'm feeling myself again.

Thanks again for the support - you reassured me that I have the strength to do this, even if I'm feeling out of sorts some days!
