Question Should I Take Them?

I have two clients interested in using me for May, and I'm due the first week in July. I have no problems with my pregnancies, and have never gone more than a week early giving birth. I'm not sure if I should take on these clients or not, I really seemed to connect well with both, although one more so than the other. I also have the option of bringing an apprentice to the birth with me to help me, so that may help me. I just can't decide if I want to work that far into my pregnancy. What do you all think? I've never did doula work ever while pregnant, so this is new to me, I'm not sure when I need to set up boundaries and turn over clients to other doulas. Advice???

TIA!

I would! I did a birth for someone who was due 2 weeks before me. I tend to go over by at least a week. I will say that I had moments when I wasn't looking forward to the birth just because I was so tired! I would look at the phone before going to bed and say "Please don't ring tonight!" LOL It turned out fine though. She went a little early and I went a little late. Birth was during the day and I did not miss any sleep. I really think God looks out for me in those situations. The last few births before my own were all pretty easy ones.

I had my baby on Oct. 10. I also did a birth near the end of August and had no problems with being tired for that one. So that is why I say I would do it! Having an apprentice with you would be a great help too! I worried about having to do the hip press for extended periods of time or being on my feet a lot, but like I said it worked out.

Thanks Cindy! The one client isn't comfortable with having an apprentice with me (her DH isn't happy about a doula at all) and the other one I haven't spoke with yet. I think I might just take one instead of two to make it easier.

THANKS!

You two are both brave to be moms of so many kids and to be doulas as well!!! Kudos to both of you! I have 2 and wonder how to do it some days, you are both supermoms in my eyes!
