Arrow My first prenatal appointment

So, today is my first prenatal appointment with my first client. I am very nervous.

This is her first baby. She hasn't taken any childbirth classes. Her husband and mother, who are attending the birth, are not really sure that they agree with her wanting a med-free birth.

She signed on with me last week, so I am going to do one big prenatal instead of 2 because she is due in 3 weeks.

Tonight, her mother, her mother's partner, her husband and herself are all going to be at the prenatal.

I feel overwhelmed and so nervous.

Please send good wishes my way.

Talking

Just be yourself, and everything will be just fine! Inform and then answer their questions. Even if mom's mom and dh aren't totally 'on-board' with a med-free birth, you can elaborate a little on your goal of making sure the parents know the benefits and risks of all the options, and then your job is to support mom's educated decisions. If mom's mom and dh hear benefits and risks, then they just may start to think more positively about natural, med-free birth. I just know you'll do a great job!
