Q for those already in the midwife-to-be program!

Oh I got another Q I thought I would ask here before going to the yahoo boards.. lol

For unit 1, what books will I need?? Same for unit 2.. Do you get a book list for each unit? I know there is a total book list but I have to buy books slowly since our money is tight and some of those books are so expensive!! So I need to buy books as I get units I guess..

Anyone?

Yes ma'am! I will help you on this one cause I bought my books bass ackwards. Lol I know, off the top of my head, you'll need Varney's 4th ed & Holistic Midwifery Vol 1. I'll check my pkt when I get home and get back with you Wed (if someone else doesn't reply before then)...a lot of them are just for book reports and you can choose what order you read them in so you can use what you might already have, what your library has or what you can borrow.

Candice,

Each unit you read and test on 2 of the books that are on the required reading list, (you choose).

Varney's, and Varney's workbooks, Helping Hands, Holistic Midwifery, NARMS skills guide, etc. are pretty much needed to complete each unit. (Which is why you really have to have them to do the unit, if that makes sense). It has taken me a while to get all of the required reading..hence, taking me longer than I thought to complete unit 1. However, I think that it would have taken me longer than average anyway because it is a lot of study time, etc. What I did was register, buy unit 1, etc. and then do the work that I could do, bit by bit..there was plenty to keep me busy while I treaded time waiting to get the more expensive books, (and I got a great deal..keep your eyes open because they will happen!).

Just my experience..

Sorry I meant to 'splain that a little more clearly. You HAVE to have those first books to start unit one. Then you can get the books in the second list two at a time for your book reports.
