Lactation Consultant and other ?'s

I was wondering where everyone got their certification from. Is CAPPA the only one who offers it?
Also what other certifications besides Doula and Childbirth Educator are there. I am the type of person who loves to learn (my dh is getting his degree online for Computer Science and I often sit in on his classes so I can learn the stuff too!) I just love to learn...I'm kind of like the robot from Short Circuit "need more input!!" I really want to become a lactation consultant as well as a doula but was wondering what else is out there that I could offer my clients of the future. I like to make a plan and go with it..right now its doula than LC than..... fill in the blank for me. Thanks for your help.

CAPPA only offers CLE (Lacation Education) to be a REAL CLC IMO you have to sit for the boards..and you have to be IBCLC..Which is my goal, it is TONS of work and hrs!! You can find info here: http://www.iblce.org/
I know that there are some places that offer classes in Lacation by sitting for these classes you can be an LE, but as far as I know CAPPA is the only place to become a CLE. Since I am not finished with my CAPPA training I call my self a Breastfeeding Support person..I kinda have an advantage due to my involvement with LLL..

there is always postpartum doula and cappa also offers the antepartum doula to help women donfined to bed rest. Happiest Baby on the block is one that I considered certifying with in the future as well. Just a couple to add to the list. Oh, and there are other areas you can specialize in without a certification. For instance there is huge amounts of information and some places have workshops specifically for helping women who have experienced childhood sexual abuse (just one example). I guess what I am getting at is you can never run out of things to learn about in this field!! That is part of why I was so drawn to it.

You could do infant massage, or even adult massage specializing in pre-natal/birth. You'd have to research which orgs cert. those.

If you wanted to go more towards a natural healing approach, you could go into herbology or homeopathy.

These are a few things I've thought about doing myself, but haven't gotten to detailed into planning. I've got enough on my plan for the moment.
