I actually live not too far from the farm, i'm south of Nashville, TN and nly like 30 miles from the farm! I had no idea! I'm confused about their workshops though, are they only for people who want to become a midwife for homebirth??

I just got back from a DONA labour training that was held at The Farm and I gotta say: it's all that AND a bag of chips (vegan chips, that is!).
Ina May is cool, but so are the other midwives. I particularly loved Pamela.

I am going to the training in August...who is the doula in OK that is going? I am in Wichita and it would be great to meet someone who lives close by.

okay, so if you go to this training thats it, or do you have to do something else like doulas, to get certified, or get a licence, etc, etc... I mean I don't know much about the midwife field yet...

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you all. I can only check email on weekends lately.
So The Farm has several different trainings. A Midwifery Assistant training, a Continuing Ed training for Advanced Midwifery Training, an Herbals Training, Neonatal Resuscitation, and some advanced trainings like Suturing, Phlebotomy and IV's etc. They also have a couple of retreats and some more spiritually minded trainings.
For me, I am using my training as continuing education, but also to build some community. As an apprentice, I am already doing a lot of the things that are being taught, but it is for the experience, you know?
I hope that helps.

There are many paths to midwifery. I think some of them have been touched on in other threads.
Midwifery distance course...
Is anyone going to school to be a midwife?
FYI, Womancraft is still operational. The site moved to http://www.peacefrog.org/midwifery.html
