Is anyone going to school to be a midwife?

Is anyone going to school to be a midwife? If you are what school have you chosen and why?

In 2004 I started attending The International School of Traditional Midwifery in Ashland, Oregon. I was onsite for my first year and am now enrolled in their distance program. I am taking a hiatus from my studies and am not sure at this time if I will resume my studies in the near future or not.

There's a lot of discussion on this topic under the Furthering Your Education board.

I will be starting back this fall to a community college to get some credits then hopefully next year sometime applying to Vanderbilt university in Nashville, TN to go into their midwifery program to become a CNM. I'm thrilled and nervous!

I'm enrolled in the Midwife*To*Be distance course. I've also taken many classes at the community college to supplement my learning. I chose this course b/c it was the least expensive and most do-able course for me...it's also a work-at-your-own-pace deal which is nice. And the woman who runs the course is just GREAT and has workshops every few months that count towards your credits

I'm thinking about pursuing it in a few years. Right now I'm looking at AAMI.

For anyone interested in AAMI, this year would be a great year to sign up. It is AAMI's 25th anniversary, and Carla herself has stated that she is getting discount happy. Contact her and find out! She often has discounts running anyway. When I first signed up I got in at a 50% discount if you could pay all at once. I took out a small loan to do it.

I have no interest in becoming a midwife. Okay, so that is a tiny lie - I would love to do it, but will not be doing it only because I want to finish the schooling I am in right now and focus on the businesses I currently have and my children.
